Employees of the Month – 2012
July 2012
Steve Weeks is the latest winner of the man of the month award. His father Barry was one of Bishopsgate’s very first employees and he brought Steve into the business in Slough way back in 2004. Steve quickly became one of the team and impressed the MD of that time…a Mr Tim Bloch with his great aptitude and attitude. But Steve left Bishopsgate as he moved to the South West of England to start a new job and lifestyle with his family.
8 years later and things have turned full circle. Bishopsgate also moved west and relocated to Royal Wootton Bassett and Steve took this opportunity to rejoin the company. According to Operations Manager, Nick Thomson, “I am so glad that Steve decided to rejoin us. He has come through our induction programme with flying colours and he has quickly established himself as one of the top drivers in the company. He can drive any vehicle and do any job without fuss or complaint and mixes well with the whole team”
Steve adds, “It’s like I never left. Things have obviously changed but it was reassuring to see much has remained the same…like our customers. We are all just driving around in better vehicles (like this brand new mercedes ed) with more equipment on them now”
Tim Bloch adds, “I am pleased to be able to publicly thank Steve for all his work now…and in the past…to help Bishopsgate surpass its customer expectations. I think his Dad, Barry, trained him well”
June 2012
Paul Kirkby wins this month’s “Employee of the Month” award for June 2012. Tim receives a number of commendations each month but two commendations received from two different members of the “Customer Service Team” in Swindon struck a chord with me. This is what they said…
“Paul is a very willing employee and always wants to help. Today, he realised following a collection that one of the deliveries was near to his next job and asked if he could make the delivery straight away. There is a process to follow for that type of request. We followed it. Got the OK to deliver and the end customer was absolutely delighted. The second commendation echoed his excellent attitude in always being helpful, friendly and thinking about what else we can do to improve the service we offer our clients. If we do not get this feedback from the road crews, we can never improve improve so it is always warmly received.
In passing Paul his award in recognition for his efforts, he thanked him for all your work over the past years in helping Bishopsgate in Warrington continue to surpass customer expectations
March & April 2012
Wouldn’t life be easy if all of our delivery instructions came through to us on a regular basis every day with near enough the same number of bookings each day! But it is never like that and the pressure of handling the spikes and larger volumes fell on Mandy Patterson in our Warehouse Administration team in March. Mandy Patterson won the employee of the month award just by diligently processing these high volumes of orders with accuracy and a continual smile on her face.
Processed orders in March become jobs to be actioned in April and the winner of the April award fell to Martin Gorman,
Manager of the Warrington Depot. It was noted how well the depot coped with the record volumes of sales with very few failures. Although this is as a result of good work from the Warrington road crews, I am aware from the commendations received from Customer Services how well Martin handled the pressure with minimal stress or difficulty.
Tim Bloch, MD said, wanted to publicly thank Martin and Mandy and the whole of the Warrington depot for a job well done! If any clients or staff wish me consider anyone for the May award who they feel has performed “over and beyond” then please just drop me a line or give me a call. It’s never easy choosing one person as I am pleased to say that we do get lots of very positive comments but the more the merrier so please keep the comments coming in.
February 2012
Bishopsgate crews come from all walks of life and it is the experience that they bring from other industries that makes the overall team so much stronger. Wesley Pritchard, our Bishopsgate “Employee of the Month” for February 2012 had been “in the building game” for 12 years before joining Bishopsgate to work for the central London team
This experience has served the company well, particularly when it comes to installing and bolting down large and heavy safes into buildings with restricted access.
Wes was nominated by Amanda from the central Customer Services team following a number of thank you’s from our customers. She told us, “Wes just has a great attitude. I can’t begin to imagine some of the difficulties that he faces on site. But Wes just gets on with it, often against all of the odds and then takes the time to train our other crew members in London too!”.
On receiving the award from managing director, Tim Bloch, family man Wes said, “I’m enjoying my time at Bishopsgate and yes I do like to get stuck into the more challenging installations. I guess the old saying is right…you can never lose your experience. I am pleased that I have been able to help my colleagues by passing down some of the techniques that I have learnt in my past which has been rewarding”
Tim added, “Wesley’s reliability and dedication to the team and company has been exceptional”
January 2012
Danny Naylor and Rick Thomas have both been selected by their peers to share January’s employee of the month award. When we decided to start this initiative we did not anticipate having to do this! I think that this is a combination of the new award finding its feet and the stark reality that we have received so many recommendations. It has proved to be very hard to choose a single winner.
While we like to think of ourselves as a swan gliding on the surface, underneath there is a lot of paddling that goes on. On such a day in the very small hours in the morning Danny Naylor went that extra mile so ensure that the business ran smoothly with most importantly zero customer failures.
Nick Thomson, our Swindon depot manager put it very simply. “Danny Naylor was a godsend. There was a problem out on the road, he came into work early, fully briefed the drivers and managed the Warrington runs with minimal disruption to the business. He just got on with it and made it all happen”
Nick Thomson also had a hand in making Tim’s final decision a difficult one by recommending Rick Thomas. Rick was handed his award quite simply for the professional way he goes about his daily work, without any fuss and often beyond the call of duty. In particular, we have recently won a contract to deliver very heavy safes into tough environments (What’s new there Ed?) and Rick has just effortlessly stepped up to the challenge in delivering these correctly “right first time”
Tim Bloch, MD, added, “Danny Naylor regularly steps up to the plate when needed. He is a credit to himself and continues to serve Bishopsgate customers very well. I am pleased that I have now got this opportunity to publically thank him for all the work he has done over the past years to help Bishopsgate continue to surpass customer expectations” He added, “I am pleased to be able to add Rick Thomas to that public thank you list too for the work he has been doing”
Nominations for February are coming in thick and fast. So, if you have experienced exceptional customer service from any of our teams then please let us know
